Life Is A Race...Will You Win

The bible compares a Christian Life to a Race. Each year we run another leg of the journey. Each and every day brings us closer to our goal.

A runner must have a lot or discipline to run a marathon. It takes a lot of training and hard work. After all that hard work to prepare, the race it's self is no breeze.

In our Christian race it will not always be easy but God has mapped out our course. With discipline and patience we will win.

As Christians we must be disciplined in:
 devotional life
what we think
what we say
what we do
We must maintain self control !
Galatians 5:21-22
we must be "temperate in all things"
In everything we do we must be led by the spirit not by the flesh. If we allow God to lead us we will be able to stay on course and finish the race as a winner.

As in any race we need directions. We need to have some directions on how to get there. The bible is a great map. It also gives tons of helpful tips along the way. The best way to reach the finish line is to take a look at the map before as well as along the way.
Phil 3:13-14
We cannot win the race by looking back. We must forget what we have left behind. It is much easier to walk if you look forward if you look behind your shoulder as you run you may stumble and fall. If you do happen to fall there is no need to worry God will be there to break your fall and he will help to get you back on your way.

Being properly dressed for a race is most helpful. If you ever seen a runner you know they are dressed lightly with no heavy clothes to weigh them down.
Don't allow your self to be weighed down.
Let go of the past. Be willing to forgive. Don't let your self be encumbered by negativism and never let fear slow you down.
Lay aside every weight and sin and run your race with patience.
